Report: 'The Force Awakens' Young Readers Tie-In Novel Titles Revealed

By: Dominic Jones

We all know the marketing tie-ins for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be huge.  Last year we learned that part of the kick off for the film's marketing would be four tie in young readers novels, released on September 4th.  At the time, the novels did not have names, merely characters they were associated with.  Now, however, the titles have been revealed on their listings on the Hatchet Business Portal.

The books are:
  • Smuggler’s Run: A Han Solo Adventure (formerly: Journey to Episode VII: Han Solo), Hardcover, Disney Lucasfilm Press, $12.99, 9781484724958 (age group 8 to 12)
  • The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure (formerly: Journey to Episode VII: Luke Skywalker), Hardcover, Disney Lucasfilm Press, $12.99 USD, 9781484724965, (age group 8 to 12)
  • Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure (previously titled Journey to Episode VII: Princess Leia), Hardcover, Disney Lucasfilm Press, $12.99, 9781484724972 (age group 8 to 12)
  • Lost Stars (formerly: Journey to Episode VII: The Fall of the Empire/The Rise of the Rebellion), likely to be written by Claudia Gray, Hardcover, Disney Lucasfilm Press, $17.99, 9781484724989 (age group 10 to 14)
Our friends over at MakingStarWars.net also broke down how they expect the marketing roll out for The Force Awakens will go.   These young reader books will be part of the "Introduction Stage," which will begin in September and will focus mostly on younger targeted material.  The second stage, the "Pre-release" stage, will get in to more "adult" releases, such as an "Art Of" book coming on November 2nd.  And finally the third stage, the "Post-Release" stage will include content that contains full spoilers for the movie and will begin once the film hits theaters.
