Vanity Fair has been dominating the Star Wars headlines for the past 24 hours, and with good reason! In addition to the phenomenal cover featuring the stars of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and a great behind the scenes video, the magazine has now given us our some new details about Lupita Nyong'o's character, who we now know is named Maz Kanata. Maz Kanata is a motion capture character, meaning that Nyong'o will not actually appear on screen rather her motions, voice, and mannerisms are being used to create this new character. We also learned that Maz Kanata is a pirate and hangs out with a large "Rogue's Gallery" of other aliens. You can see these characters (but not Maz Kanata as far as I can tell) in the image below,
The magazine also had photographs by the legendary Annie Lebowitz of Adam Driver as a helmetless Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron hanging off the side of his X-Wing, Daisy Ridley as Rey on her speeder, and behind the scenes shots of Lupita Nyong'o performing her motion capture work, and of the legendary talent (l-r John Williams, Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Kennedy, and JJ Abrams). Check those out below,
