Star Wars fans in China should be excited to know that a brand new Star Wars attraction is coming to their country as part of the currently under construction Disneyland Shanghai. Earlier this week Disney CEO Bob Iger unveiled the designs for the upcoming park, which included artists renderings of some of it's six themed lands and a scale model of the park itself. Among the new attractions will be some Marvel and Tron themed rides and exhibits, as well as a Star Wars section called the "Launch Bay." The official description describes the exhibit as a place where "guests will meet heroes and villains of the saga, visit iconic intergalactic set-pieces, view props and memorabilia from the most recent Episode, and be immersed in the Skywalker story through a state-of-the-art cinematic experience." Disney also released a piece of concept art for the attraction, which you can see above!
Rumors and speculation about a proposed "Star Wars Land" in both Disneyland and Disney World in the U.S. have run rampant over the past few years. Disney's biennial convention D23 is right around the corner and the company is expected to announce it's further Star Wars theme park plans there. The Shanghai Disneyland attraction may be a good indicator of what we'll see in other parks in the near future.
The park is located in the Pudong district of Shanghai and is expected to open it's gates sometime in the first half of next year.
