New 'Star Wars Rebels' Lego Set Revealed

By: Dominic Jones

Lego has announced the third Lego set based on the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels (the first two being "The Ghost" and "The Phantom").  MTV revealed the "Wookiee Gunship" set which fans will be able to check out at the Lego booth at San Diego Comic Con this week.  The set will be 570 pieces and includes three Wookiee mini figures and a mini figure of Kanan.  It hits shelves in January of 2015 and will cost $69.99.

Check out the official description below,
75084 Wookiee Gunship
Protect Wullffwarro and his Jedi friend, Kanan Jarrus, with the powerful LEGO® Star Wars Wookiee Gunship. As featured in the Star Wars: Rebels animated TV series, this amazing battle-ready craft has loads of weapons to see off any invading force, like movable front cannons and an elevating top cannon. When the action really heats up, raise the wings into attack mode and unleash the never-before-seen rapid shooters! If you run low on ammo, open the side hatches to access the spare supply, then lower the rear bay door and unload the mobile gun post. Includes 4 minifigures with assorted weapons: Wullffwarro, Kanan Jarrus and 2 Wookiees. Available January 2015, 570 pieces, $69.99.

Also at San Diego Comic Con, Lego will be displaying a life size Chopper droid made entirely out Lego.  According to MTV, "Chopper contains 11,774 bricks, and took the LEGO Master Builders 143 to design and build. He stands 36 inches tall, and weighs 58 pounds, which means you’re going to hear a lot of people saying, 'Aren’t you awfully big for a droid?' around the LEGO booth."

Sounds like the Lego booth is a can't miss booth at SDCC!

The Clone Wars Strikes Back | Episode 16

Dominic and Ciaran are back to discuss the episodes "Corruption", "The Academy", and "Assassin".  How do they feel about the Mandalore duology now that they've seen what happens on Mandalore?  What is it about Mandalore that makes everyone act so strange?  Why is Yoda's advice to Ahsoka about premonitions so different from his advice to Anakin?  Plus, corruption, Aurra Sing, the relationship between Ahsoka and Padme, and Yoda's advice gets reinterpretted as Disney songs!  All this and much more!

Report: Battlefront Will Not Tie Into Episode VII

By: Benjamin Hart

Since EA announced they would be creating the next Star Wars: Battlefront game, there has been much speculation about what elements from the Star Wars Saga might be included, especially Star Wars Episode VII. Steven Ruygrok on Examiner.com is reporting that Executive Vice President of EA Studios Patrick Soderlund recently spoke about how the game may or may not be connected the the upcoming film:

"We've shown parts of the game to date. You know what were building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe, not so much linked to the movie being made." He continues, "We wanted to make a game that celebrates the history of Star Wars. We don't have a particular tie to the movie, but obviously we would prefer to launch Battlefront sometime close to when the movie launches,"

While this isn't a firm denial, I think it's safe to assume that we may not being seeing maps, characters and/or ships from Episode VII in Star Wars: Battlefront. This is disappointing news, but not that unreasonable. Due to both the game and film being in production at the same same time, with both expected to be release within close proximity to each other, it could make it difficult for both production teams to collaborate effectively. From what we saw in the first Battlefront teaser trailer, they seem to be focusing heavily on the Original Trilogy films. And even so, there's always the possibility of future downloadable content(DLCs) that is based on Episode VII.

Rumor: Marvel Working on Princess Leia Comic Book Series

By: Dominic Jones

San Diego Comic Con kicks off tonight with 'Preview Night', so we can expect news and rumors to come flying fast and furious over the next five days.  The first deals with upcoming Star Wars comic books from Marvel, who will obtain the Star Wars Comic Book publishing license in January 2015.  According to Bleeding Cool, one of the first publications from Marvel will be a Princess Leia comic book series!  It was previously reported that Marvel was planning on releasing two Star Wars comics series when they first got the license, but this is not one of those series.  Instead it appears to be a new addition to the line up of comics.  No word yet on what those other series might be.  (And no, the re-release of the old Marvel comics is not one of their new series planned).

I think a Princess Leia comic series is a good idea.  There has been a lot of noise made by the fan community regarding gender equality and representation in new Star Wars projects over the past few months, so it's nice to see that the creative forces are actually listening!  I think there's lots of potential for Leia stories in pretty much any time period from pre-Episode IV right up until before Episode VII.

While it seems unlikely that we'll get any announcements regarding future Star Wars comics at Comic Con, neither Marvel nor Lucasfilm have panels about Star Wars comics, we'll keep our eyes pealed over the next five days to see if they make any surprise announcements.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: JVCustoms

By: Darth Daddy

Recently I set up a deviantART page to help promote the blog I write with my son.  While setting up our page, I came across the Star Wars custom action figure art of JVCustoms.

JVCustoms is a professional figure customizer of 3 ¾ inch through 1/6 scale figures, as well as, vehicles of miniatures up to the 3 ¾ inch figure scale. What caught my eye the most from this artist was some very cool looking dolls that JVCustoms made featuring some of our favorite female Star Wars characters.  When I posted his work last year on my blog, he got a warm reception from the Fangirls who visitus .  I really liked the custom nose art on his vehicles.

I figured this week it would be cool to display some customs on here that were a bit outside the box in regards to what most people imagine when they think of Star Wars custom action figures.  These customs are a bit different than what I have been posting so far, but they are just as cool to look at as everything else that I've posted here.

JVCustoms is not currently accepting new commissions but he sells from his own collection often and will entertain offers for many of his already-completed customs. He also sells his customs on eBay.

Rumor: New Episode VII Set Photo

By Ciaran Duggan

Breaking Episode VII news! The well respected website Star Wars Episode 7 News has unveiled a fresh photograph that they claim is from a section of the Episode VII set at Pinewood Studios. The uploaded photo can be seen here:

The landscape certainly delineates a close resonance to the familiar planet Tatooine, notably illustrated through the desert hut/settlement in the background of the shot. The return to Tatooine hasn’t been confirmed officially, but the evidence conveyed through this photograph and images released antecedent to today certainly demonstrate the likeliness of a return to the planet.

The released image may seem small news in comparison to previous Episode VII reports and announcements in the past few weeks, but unveiled images akin to today will most likely magnify the anticipation for the movie release amongst fandom every passing day.

Bearded Mark Hamill Talks Episode VII

By: Benjamin Hart

While all eyes seem to be focused on all the excitement happening at San Diego Comic Con, on the other side of the World the premiere for Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is happening in London, and none other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, was in attendance. In an interview with the BBC, which he appeared with a much fuller, Jedi-like beard, Mark had a great deal to say about his experience working on Star Wars Episode VII. "I never thought we'd come back, I still can't believe it's happening. And to go on to those sets that evoke so many memories is just astonishing." And he continued, discussing his, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford's roles, "It's really about the new generation of characters, we're just there to lend our support and grow contractually obligated beards." And on whether or not he's given his younger co-stars advice he said, "They're so good, I'm thinking of asking them for advice."

When asked about Harrison Ford's leg injury, he said he was not on set when it happened and commented that, "It'll take more than that to stop Harrison Ford."

Be sure to watch the full interview here for more of this fascinating discussion!
