Rumor: Robert Pattinson in the Running for Role of Han Solo in Stand Alone Film

$

By: Dominic Jones

Take this rumor with a BIG grain of salt.   One rumor that has been floating around for a while is that there will be a young Han Solo Stand Alone film.  This has led many people to wonder who would play a young Han Solo.  Well Hollywood Life thinks they may have found the answer, and it may shock you.  They're reporting that Robert Pattinson is in consideration for the role of young Han Solo.  According to Hollywood Life,

“Everyone has been talking about the possibility that Rob will be the new Indiana Jones, but that is not going to happen,” a source reveals EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com. “What has been talked about is a standalone Han Solo film, younger Han Solo before everything that happened in Star Wars and the person who is on the high list to get the part is Robert Pattinson.”

Now before you get too upset that the guy from Twilight would be taking over Harrison Ford's iconic role, recall Pattinson has been fairly successful in many other roles and he is a Star Wars fan!  He would be a bold choice for the role, but I can't say I'm against.  If they cast him, I hope it's because he's right for the role and not because he's Robert Pattinson.   However, I can't say I believe this rumor.   I have a feeling that Disney wouldn't want to cast someone who's been connected Twilight in Star Wars (there's already enough "Disney will ruin Star Wars" BS going on out there).

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

Stephen Scaia Talks About Writing For Star Wars Live Action Series

By: Dominic Jones

Between 2005 and 2012, one of the most rumored and talked about upcoming Star Wars project was the Live Action Series, Star Wars: Underworld.  While the show seems to have been scrapped in light of the Episode VII announcement, one of the writers of the series is discussing his time working on the series with George Lucas.  Scaia discussed his time working on the project in a Kickstarter video, promoting his Kickstarter project to make a Indiana Jones fan film, Army of the Lost Horizon

He revealed that the serious would have begun with a different part of the Star Wars galaxy and then slowly moved back into the parts of the galaxy we know and love.  He also revealed that there would have been scenes that featured Han Solo and Chewbacca meeting and Lando losing the Millennium Falcon to Han!

I must say, this sounds like it would have been incredible.  A lot of what we'd been hearing was that the series would have featured mostly new characters, so it's interesting to hear about how the series would have progressed.  While it's unlikely that the series will be seen anytime soon (if ever), hopefully elements from the scripts get used in new Star Wars projects like the stand alone films, TV series, etc.

Report: 2016 Stand Alone Film to be Shot in London

By: Dominic Jones

A new report indicates that production of Star Wars films will continue to take place in the UK for the foreseeable future.  Production on Star Wars Episode VII is currently taking place at Pinewood Studios in London and it seems the 2016 Stand Alone film directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta will follow suit.

Bloomberg has received an email from Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne confirming that the film would be shot at Pinewood studios.  According to Osbourne,

"This will mean more jobs and more investment.  I have been determined that we back our brilliant creative industries which is why we have invested in skills and training as well as providing tax relief for films, high-end TV, animation, video games and regional theater."

Osbourne also tweeted an image of himself with Lucasfilm President and Episode VII producer Kathleen Kennedy and Episode VII director JJ Abrams, standing with R2-D2 in front of the under construction set of the Millenium Falcon at Pinewood Studios!  Check it out below,

Boyega's Dad "Joining" the Episode VII Fun

By: Lillian Skye

It's not every day that you get to work with your dad, but in Star Wars actor John Boyega's case, his father might be venturing to a galaxy far, far away for the opportunity.

Earlier this morning, John Boyega, whose role in the next installment of the Saga is still unknown, tweeted:

His followers instantly jumped at the revealing tweet...

Lando???

 34m
Ummmm, I'm going to go out on a limb here...is your "Dad" ?

 24m
The Star Wars geeky s**tstorm you've potentially just opened could be amazing. (I know you're talking about your real father.)

To which Boyega responded:

Score to Boyega, who by now knows that he'll need to be frank with some people on the internet if he wants to get his point across:

Yes, John Boyega's actual father (who, by the way, is not Billy Dee Williams) will be involved in some way with Episode VII. However, this could mean anything. We don't know whether or not this means he'll have a cameo in the movie or be working with the crew somehow. For all we know, this Tweet could mean that John Boyega's dad is simply visitinghim on the set of Episode VII.

Thanks to Zac at the Intergalactic Peace Coalition for tipping us off about this!

Rumor: Simon Pegg Cast in Episode VII

By: Dominic Jones

IGN has new rumor that, to be honest, I'm surprised hasn't come up before.  IGN Middle East is reporting that Simon Pegg (Star Trek, Mission Impossible III, Shaun of the Dead) has been cast in Star Wars Episode VII. Pegg was reportedly spotted filming this "secret role" on the Abu Dhabi set.

Pegg is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having played Dengar on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  He is also a vocal fan of the original trilogy (and only the original trilogy).  He has worked with JJ Abrams several times in the past, including the two most recent Star Trek films, and on Mission Impossible III.

Pegg had previously shot down the possibility of him being in Episode VII, telling The Independent, "I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting."  There's a possibility this statement from September 2013 was part of an elaborate ruse to hide the fact that Pegg would be in the film.  It's also possible that in the past few months, the situation on Episode VII has changed and a part for Pegg was opened up.   That being said, I doubt he'll be in the film and if he is it will be an Easter egg cameo.

DARTH DADDY'S CUSTOMIZING CORNER: TONY "THE MAD JAWA" DEIDA

By: Darth Daddy

So far I have been showcasing the work of the seasoned veterans within the Star Wars customizing community, but I thought it would be cool to give a shout out to some of the newer artists in the community as well.  Tony 'The Mad Jawa' Deida is a 38 year old customizer from New Jersey.  He has been seriously customizing for less than 1 year, and his devotion to the craft is quite evident.  He was one of the first customizers I saw to tackle the Star Wars Rebels characters and it was cool that he made them to fit with the realistic line rather in their animated for.  He has also produced some super creative droids that deserve a look.  The tall Jawa custom that he made from the appearance at the sale of the droids from A New Hope is a figure I'd like to make for my own collection one day.  What a great idea!

His interest in customizing Star Wars toys started because he found that he never had much money to purchase new figures due to the increasing price point, as well as not being totally happy with the look of the figures he was paying for.  Mainly being a flea market and toy show shopper led to a build up of lots of fodder. Heavily influenced by seeing all the incredible artists on Facebook, he told himself, "I can do this!"

Around this very same week, one year ago, he gave up drinking, smoking, TV and all other aspects of the mainstream media the same day, and totally committed himself, and all his time, to learning everything he could about customizing.  Tony said he learned his craft by watching hours and endless hours of YouTube to see how other customizers acheived their results.  Customizing quickly become a passion for him. With his new found time and saved money, he studied paint technique, molding, casting, sculpting, and his favorite technique weathering.  He said he will use real rust, and dirt to get the look he wants.  Tony said while all the technical skills have been necessary to add to his repertoire,  patience has been the most important skill of all.

Tony feels like he never would have made it this far in his skill set without the support of his friends in the online community, and his wife Stacy.

'Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars" to Air July 26

By: Dominic Jones

we first found out about the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars cross over episodes back at last year's San Diego Comic Con and now we finally have an air date for the episode.  Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars will air on July 26th on Disney Channel at 9pm EST.   The episode will feature guest stars Simon Pegg as C-3PO and an Imperial Officer, as well as Mythbusters stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman as members of the Empire.

Set a few summers ago in a galaxy far, far away, the special finds Phineas and Ferb in a parallel universe during Star Wars -- Episode IV: A New Hope. Characters such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 will be featured. Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh" will also make cameos as themselves.

I must say, I am definitely looking forward to this.  What I've seen of Phineas and Ferb is hilarious and reviews of their Marvel cross-over episode were positive.  This has the potential to be this generations equivalent to the Star Wars episode of The Muppet Show.

By: Dominic Jones

If you're heading to Orlando, Florida this weekend for the final Disney Star Wars Weekend, you're in for an extra special treat.  It has been announced that Star Wars Rebels Executive producer and Supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Dave Filoni will be in attendance.  Dave will be taking part in a special interview with event host James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan on The Clone Wars) at 5:00pm on Saturday June 14th (tomorrow!!)
It's great to see Dave heading to Weekends, especially this weekend as it is very much a Clone Wars reunion.  Guests from The Clone Wars include Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Cat Taber (Padme Amidala), Tom Kane (Yoda), and Dee Bradley Baker (the clones), as well as hosts Taylor (Kenobi), and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano).  Hopefully FIloni will be able to get in on the fun with his old cast.  Also in attendance will be Steve Blum (Zeb) who will be representing Star Wars Rebels.

Looking forward to hearing all about the panel from those who are there (really jealous of all of you!) and I can't wait to see what surprises for Star Wars Rebels Filoni has in store for the fans!

Source: Jedi News

Update: Unfortunately Dave just posted this message on his Facebook page:

"Hey Star Wars fans,

As some of you guessed, since this is the last weekend for Disney Star Wars Weekends, I was going to fly down to Orlando to meet up with everyone.

Unfortunately, due to the needs of our production on Star Wars Rebels, I have decided to stay here and continue to work on the show. Our team on Rebels wants to deliver the best show possible, and in that effort every minute counts and every detail matters.

Thank you for your continued support.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I’ll see you at San Diego Comic-con!

May the Force be with you,

Dave"

Domhnall Gleeson Keeping Episode VII Secrets From Family

Lucasfilm has always been know for it's secrecy about upcoming projects, but now it seems that at least one current Star Wars star is taking that secrecy very seriously. Domhnall Gleeson, who's set to appear alongside Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver, among others, in Star Wars Episode VII, has reportedly been extremely tight lipped about his new job, even keeping details about the film from his family. Herald.ie spoke with Domhnall's brother Brian, who is also an actor, about his brother's new gig:

"The Irish star of the latest instalment in the Star Wars trilogy comes from one of Ireland’s best known acting dynasties, but Domhnall Gleeson has had to keep the script for the highly-anticipated flick under lock and key, even from his legendary actor dad Brendan.

While they are delighted for Domhnall, brother Brian, who is a huge Star Wars fan, said his sibling is being very careful to ensure he keeps the film secrets under wraps.

“He can’t say anything so he doesn’t give me any information,” Brian told the[Herald]"

Domhnall's willingness to keep info about Episode VII a secret, even from those closest to him, is commendable. While we as fans often find ourselves clamoring for the tiniest details about Episode VII, we need to remember that a certain amount of surprise should be withheld until we actually see the film. More and more will be revealed in time, but hopefully certain crucial things in Episode VII will stay a secret until December 18th, 2015.

So, I have a question; If you were involved with a super awesome Star Wars project and you were sworn to secrecy, could you keep it a secret? Even from your family? Please share your answer in the comments below, or on Facebook and Twitter!

The internet was taken by storm this week by reports that actor Harrison Ford had been airlifted to a hospital after injuring his ankle on the set of Star Wars Episode VII.

In the wake of the news, the web saw an upwelling of support for the Han Solo actor, as well as its fair share of jokes and snide remarks, including the above photoshopped photo, and even a Twitter account for Harrison Ford's Ankle.

Now, Sky News has obtained confirmation directly from Lucasfilm that Harrison Ford did indeed break his ankle.

LucasFilm confirmed that the 71-year-old star of the first three Star Wars films broke his ankle while filming at the studio complex in Buckinghamshire. He was airlifted to hospital in Oxford for treatment.

"A 71-year-old man was injured in an incident believed to involve a garage door.

"He was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed and will look into it."

UPDATE:Sky News has recently spoken to a publicist from Lucasfilm and obtained a few more tidbits.

A publicist for the film told Sky News they were: "Hoping to announce some good news soon."

A spokesman for Ford's wife, the Ally McBeal actress Calista Flockhart, told The Daily Telegraph she was flying out to the UK to be with her husband.

'Episode VII' Actress Daisy Ridley Comments On Jaina Solo Rumors

By Chris Seekell

Any Star Wars fans regularly checking the Episode VII cast list on movie information site IMDb will have noticed that among other confirmed roles, actress Daisy Ridley has been credited as Legacy canon character Jaina Solo.

After Ridley was announced for Episode VII along with a photo that placed her between Han Solo actor Harrison Ford and Leia Organa actress Carrie Fisher, many fans have speculated that the film would include the now non-canon daughter of Han and Leia.

However, today, Ridley took to Twitter to subtly refute the rumors.

We should probably take this as a hint that while possibly including some Legacy elements, Episode VII will be an original story with new characters.

UPDATE: Daisy Ridley has since deleted the Tweet.

Perez Hilton, Sun Claim Ford's Injury 'Worse' Than Reported; Cast 'Livid'

By Chris Seekell

Despite earlier reports that Lucasfilm was expecting to announce some 'good news' soon about Harrison Ford's unfortunate injury on the set of Episode VII, some news outlets are now claiming that his injuries go beyond a broken ankle.

An unnamed source told the following to entertainment news site Perez Hilton.

"We were told he had some pelvic injuries and may have had a chest X-ray. There’s talk his ankle is actually broken. And he may still be in the hospital. Everyone was thankful nothing hit Harrison’s head. It’s not known when he’ll be ready to start filming again."

The source also claimed that the cast was very displeased as a result of the incident.

"The cast is livid. They are openly questioning the safety of sets. They’ve asked for everything to be triple-checked."

The New York Post also cited the Sun Newspaper as claiming that Ford has pelvic injuries.

None of this information is coming from Lucasfilm, so we definitely need to take it with a grain of salt. Hopefully it is merely media sensationalism, and the extent of Ford's injuries are not any graver than reported by Lucasfilm.

Rumor: The Villains in Episode VII are Sith Inquisitors

$

By: Dominic Jones

If you've been looking for a significant link between Episode VII and the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels, we may have just found it.  A new rumor from Furious Fanboys, states that the main villains in Episode VII will be the Sith Inquisitors (at least one of whom will be the main antagonist on Rebels) and that they will have been fighting against Luke Skywalker for the better part of 30 years.  According to Furious Fanboys,

There is apparently more than one villain, and they are Inquisitors much like the one in Star Wars Rebels. The name “Jedi Hunter” is what the sources called them as they weren’t familiar with the Inquisitor concept from Rebels at the time. These Inquisitors hunt Jedi, want to resurrect the Sith, and Luke has fought against them for years but at the time of Episode VII they’ve grown in number and he’s only become older and can’t fight them off alone anymore.

The Inquisitors aren’t fully Sith. They’re acolytes for a big bad. Much like the Inquisitor in Rebels or even Grievous in the Prequels. They have some Sith-like skills (lightsabers, etc.) but will never be full Sith and both them and the big bad they are working for know that.

This is all in a galaxy where the Empire wasn’t fully defeated at the end of Return of the Jedi. So at the start of the Sequel Trilogy you have a galaxy that’s suffered years of war and Jedi who are hunted by Inquisitors.

They also state that both Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong'o may be playing Inquisitors and that Driver's character may have some relation to the "big three" (Luke, Han, and Leia).

This rumor seems to make sense and line up fairly well with other rumors.  The Empire was massive and it makes sense that, while blowing up the second Death Star and killing the Emperor was a significant blow, the Empire is still a force to be reckoned with in the Sequel Trilogy.  This also lines up with a previous rumor from Latino Review which stated "Despite having 30 Years after Jedi to set one up, there is NO New Republic at the start of Episode VII."   It makes sense that if the Empire is still around, there wouldn't be much of a chance for the Rebel Alliance to establish a new government.

There's also the Luke Skywalker issue.  Many have speculated that Luke will be in hiding on Tatooine at the start of the film.  This is still a viable theory.  As Furious Fanboys states, "Luke has fought against them for years but at the time of Episode VII they’ve grown in number and he’s only become older and can’t fight them off alone anymore."  If Luke had been fighting these Inquisitors on his own for say 15-25 years to no avail, perhaps he became disenfranchised with the Jedi way and abandoned it.  This would set the stage for the first part of the film to deal with John Boyega and Daisey Ridley's characters to go searching for him.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

By: Dominic Jones

It seems Harrison Ford is about to have an unscheduled eight week break from filming on Star Wars Episode VII.  The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the injury Ford sustained on set last week is a broken ankle and will cause the Han Solo actor to miss the next eight weeks of filming.   Ford was injured last Thursday when a hydraulic door on the Millennium Falcon fell down.  Filming on Episode VII will continue despite Ford's injury and sources tell THR that the film is still expected to make its December 18, 2015 release date.
