Andy Serkis Confirms His Imaginarium is Being Used for Star Wars

By: Lillian Skye

Andy Serkis, known for his performance as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, recently confirmed that the upcoming Star Wars films will utilize his motion capture studio Imaginarium during production.

“The Imaginarium is now involved in all of the performance capture on the Star Wars projects,” Serkis explained, “and I’m playing a character in that. It’s extraordinary. I grew up with Star Wars and was a massive fan of the original films. I never imagined in a million years that I’d be engaging with this. It’s just come about so organically.”

Serkis explained that him and Abrams hit it off when they first met. He explained how expressed that he'd "fit really well in this universe." Serkis replied that he probably could. "We’re working very closely," Serkis explained, "As I say, in two ways: the Imaginarium is providing all of the performance characters, and I myself am playing a character in it."

Although Serkis did not directly confirm whether or not he will be playing a motion capture character, the odds are in his favor, and there is always the possibility that he could be playing a live action character as well as a motion capture counterpart.

Rumor: Details About the First Two Episodes of 'Rebels'

$

By: Dominic Jones

The good folks over at Making Star Wars have some very interesting details about the first two episodes of the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels.  We assume these are the episodes that will be aired as the hour long premiere on Disney Channel (the remainder of the series will air on Disney XD).  While these are unconfirmed (and likely won't be confirmed until we see the episodes this fall), this your official SPOILER ALERT!  (Seriously folks, this is a complete break down of practically ever plot point from the episodes.  IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING STOP READING NOW!)

If you're still with us, here's what Making Star Wars is hearing from their sources,
  • Ezra comes upon a cool score, blasters, ammo, and supplies when he finds The Rebels destroying and stealing the crates.

  • Zeb offers Ezra a ride away from the explosions as Imperials show up.

  • Zeb locks Ezra in a storeroom when he gets aboard their ship after they give him a ride away from the munitions destruction.

  • On the way, the crew stops and begins to hand out food to the starving masses they stole from the Empire.

  • However, because Zeb shoved Ezra in the closet Ezra plans to snoop around the ship for some loot. Later on after they visit a spot called Tarkintown (Tangletown), Ezra goes through the ship.

  • He’s almost called by something…that’s when he discovers the Holocron and Kanan’s lightsaber. Kanan catches him, takes the saber, but Ezra pockets the Holocron.

  • The rebels trade the stolen blasters they didn’t blow up to Vizago. Vizago then gives them the flight plan of the ship transporting enslaved Wookiees. The Rebels dock with the Imperials and try and pass Zeb off as a rare hairless Wookiee!

  • Ezra is told to stay on the ship with Hera. But he gets a cold shiver down his spine while the the others go on the mission…it was a trap, Vizago sold them out to the Empire!

  • Hera looks to Ezra and says “If all you do is fight for your own life, your life’s worth nothing.” This truth makes Ezra angry.

  • Star Destroyers appear over the city in Space scaring the locals.

  • With no Wookiees aboard the ship the rebels are trying to make their way off the ship, but a squadron of Stormtroopers waits for Kanan and Zeb to come out. Ezra takes his slingshot and shoots a detonator packet at them, blowing up the entire squadron of Stormtroopers. He feels heroic for the first time.

  • Meanwhile Sabine was in the gravity control station and she deactivates the gravity on the ship and speedily floats towards the Ghost, thanks to Chopper’s rockets.

  • Ezra ends up fighting with Agent Kallus and Zeb tries to escape without Ezra, angering Ezra.

  • Ezra is put into the Star Destroyer’s brig by Agent Kallus.

  • Agent Kallus is of the Imperial Security Bureau.

  • The ISB are the nastiest Imperials around, even other Imperials fear them.

  • While in holding, Ezra activates the Holocron. Ezra stares at it and it unfolds as if it understood his silent command and a recording begins to play. Ezra is confused by a mysterious man named Obi-Wan Kenobi telling him to “Trust in the Force.”

  • Obi-Wan explains that the Emperor is actually a Sith Lord who betrayed the Jedi and destroyed the Republic.

  • Ezra fakes coughing and proclaims Emperor Palpatine his uncle so they open his cell door. Ezra wedges himself to the ceiling and pops out the door before they even think to look up for their prisoner.

  • Ezra runs for the airlocks and takes a trooper’s helmet.

  • Ezra hears over the coms that The Ghost, he was not abandoned!

  •  He also discovers the location of the Wookiees.

  • When Ezra gets aboard the Ghost, Zeb slugs him in the helmet thinking he’s a Stormtrooper further adding to their contentious relationship.

  • The Wookiees have all been shipped off to the Spice Mines of Kessel.

  • Ezra tells the crew they started this job, they should finish it. The Wookiees must be saved.

  • They  go to the Wookiee camp to save the Wookiees on Kessel, Spice Mine K77 to be exact.

  • Illegal Spice has been sold in Capital City since the Empire took over.

  • The Empire is not expecting the Rebels on Kessel. The stuff we saw of Kanan in the trailers with his saber is on Kessel.

  • Sabine speaks a little Wookiee. The Wookiees call Ezra “The Little Warrior.”

  • After this good deed and Obi-Wan’s message, Ezra realizes he must join the crew of the Ghost and figure out what the Force is.

  • The only drawback? Ezra has to bunk with Zeb.

  • The episode ends with the footage of the Inquisitor and Kallus speaking from the teaser trailer.
Wow!  This sounds like it will be a great premiere!  October cannot get here soon enough.

Report: Positive Vibe on Episode VII Set, Despite Ford Injury

By: Dominic Jones

The last few days have been a wash with rumors about potential delays and panic on the set of Episode VII, in face of Harrison Ford's leg injury.  While we still don't know when Harrison Ford will be back (reports range from 6-8 weeks, to 6 months), it seems the production crew is taking everything in stride.  The good folks over at Jedi News are hearing that the vibe is pretty positive and the crew is in high spirits in face of the setback.  According to their sources, production has been on hold for the past week (which likely why Gwendoline Christie was spotted at Wimbleton) while the heads of production figure out their plan B to deal with the situation.  The hiatus is expected to last for this upcoming week as well while everything is worked out.

According to Jedi News' source,
"The production was effectively in shutdown last week with the majority of cast and crew on call, but not on set. The same applies to the coming week, or at least the first half of it."

"All the decision makers and big guns were on set and working hard to re-plan the full production, from when talent would be needed to priorities in set build, costume and effects. All department heads attended and held a number of meetings in order to put into effect a plan B to work around Ford's time off."

"The Star Wars crew seem in amazingly high and confident spirits and whilst there has been disruption there is no sense of panic whatsoever. In fact, I would go as far to say they seem supremely confident that they are working on and achieving great things and you would not think any setback had happened."

That sounds to me like the injury to Ford is a setback, but far from the doomsday situation some were predicting.  It sounds like the schedule will have to be completely redone, but the show will go on and the December 18th, 2015 release date will be met.

As for how they may work around the injury, Hollywood Elsewhere is hearing that CGI will be used to put Ford's face on a body double.  According to them,
"A director friend who knows people says he’s “hearing on pretty good authority they’ll be using CGI to put Harrison Ford’s face on a body double, probably his usual stunt double, so he’ll be able to complete his Star Wars, Episode VII role no matter what the state of his recovery will be."

That would be one solution to this problem and this technology does exist (it was used during the prequels to put the actors faces on their stunt doubles during some of the more extreme portions of the Lightsaber duels.  Check out the documentary Within a Minute on the Episode III DVD to see how it's done!)   That being said, I would think that would be a last resort for the crew and they are more likely working on get Harrison back on set as soon as he's ready.

Rumor: Billie Lourd to Play Young Leia in Flashbacks in Episode VII

By: Dominic Jones

The Mirror is reporting on a new twist to the rumors that Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd will be appearing in Star Wars Episode VII. They're reporting that Lourd will be portraying a young Princess Leia, her mother's famous role from the Original Trilogy, in flashbacks in the film.

This is definitely a interesting take on the rumors.  Lourd obviously has the family resemblance down and if you were to cast someone as a young Carrie Fisher her daughter would make sense. As for the issue of flashbacks, while they have never appeared in Star Wars films (the only time they've been used in Star Wars was The Clone Wars episode "Nightsisters") anything is possible in this new era of Star Wars.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

Harrison Ford Almost Back On Two Feet With Prosthetic Leg

By: Ciaran Duggan

Harrison Ford is reputedly on the rapid road to recovery, as he was seen leaving London’s acclaimed and exclusive 34 restaurant in Mayfair last night using a prosthetic leg for support. The British media outlet, The Daily Mail, took a myriad of photographs to display Ford’s hastening recovery outside the restaurant.

It is great to witness Harrison Ford’s determined and perseverant attitude, he certainly appears to be strong willed and single minded in his attempts to regain full fitness in order to return to shooting in Pinewood Studios.

In spite of witnessing Harrison forced into a wheelchair last month, Ford’s tenacity may well accelerate his recovery and see him reappear on set sooner than anticipated. Whatever the case, it is profoundly pleasing to finally observe Ford out of the wheelchair and close to returning to filming in Pinewood.

Battlefront 3 Experience Deemed As 'Positive' and 'Advancing' by Developer

By Ciaran Duggan

Gaming developer Karl Magnus Troedsson has affirmed that production of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is progressing and advancing well. He has maintained an optimistic attitude concerning the creation and development of the game and considers that gaming developers DICE have facilitated this feat.

Furthermore, Mr. Troedsson has estimated that the game will emerge a greater success than the two antecedent and popular Battlefront games. He has also elucidated that the production of Battlefront 3 has been very distinct to the prior two Battlefrontgames (the animation and content of the two former Battlefront games had principally emulated and mirrored the Battlefield franchise).

Finally, our friends over at Gameranx have speculated that DICE may have some inside knowledge on the forthcoming Star Wars Episode VII which would help facilitate the development of an authentic, canonized and popular Star Wars game. Of course this latter statement should be taken as rumour until Disney or Lucasfilm have confirmed otherwise. Notwithstanding, Star Wars fans should certainly have a good feeling about Battlefront 3; set to be released in 2015.

By: Benjamin Hart

Today, StarWars.com revealed the newest action figure in Hasbro's incredibly detailed and articulated Black Series line! The all-white "Prototype Boba Fett", based on early early concept art by Joe Johnston and the late Ralph McQuarrie, is slated for release this Fall and will be a Walgreens exclusive.

StarWars.com explains further:

"On June 28, 1978, Star Wars sound designer Ben Burtt and The Empire Strikes Back assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham debuted the costume with a test video (also available below), detailing its weaponry and functionality; the colors would later be developed to what has become Fett’s definitive look, but it all began with this early version."

Pre-orders are also expected to open at San Diego Comic Con later this month.

This certainly looks like an awesome figure, and a must-have for collectors! Will you be picking this up at your local Walgreens when it's released? Let us know in the comments below.

A New Look For StarWars.com

By: Lillian Skye

The official Star Wars website recently updated their design to reveal a sleek and futuristic new StarWars.com.

"It's time for a fully armed and operational online Star Wars experience," the StarWars.com team relayed via email to fans who had been previously registered on the site. "So we're thrilled to let you know that Lucasfilm is launching an all-new StarWars.com -- with movie, TV, and video game news, innovative features, and more in-depth original content than ever before."

The Star Wars team also revealed that they are doing away with any existing StarWars.com accounts, and are replacing them with Disney IDs. Registering for a Disney ID requires a user's birthdate, email address, country and zip code in addition to a personalized display name. The email reassures that the "new Disney ID is more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

The redesign also added new features, such as the community page. Here, the site lists links to fan organizations, fansites and blogs, and fan podcasts. The page also provides links to Star Wars news around the web on sites like Yahoo! News, MTV, and NPR.

Another new feature under the "databank" page, lists all ships, characters, species, and droids in alphabetical order: an entire resource of Star Wars information at a fan's fingertips. The site may prove Jocasta Nu correct: If an item does not appear in the records, it does not exist

The new StarWars.com is waiting to be explored by fans. Although Jedi aren't supposed to crave these things, in the words of a famous green Jedi Master,  the new site holds "adventure, excitement!"

Check out the new features and the redesign here!

Kevin Smith Talks Episode VII, Leaks Details

By: Benjamin Hart

On Monday Kevin Smith shared on social media that he had just visited Pinewood Studios in London where Star Wars Episode VII is currently being filmed, and was literally brought to tears by the experience. Today Flickering Myth is reporting that after visiting the Episode VII set, Smith was a co-host on the Hollywood Babble-On Podcast, and spoke about Episode VII.

“They had a sign at on the stage – I can’t even say which stage – which had the Imperial Starship logo and it said, ‘loose lips sink starships”.

“I’m really excited and you know, people keep saying that I liked the last trilogy and I did. I liked 1, 2 and 3. But I liked them as an adult, when I watched them they didn’t give me the same feeling I had when I was seven watching them for the first time and that’s fine. This movie though… Dude, I cried four times. The seven year old in me came. [J.J] has f*cking captured it, man. He has nailed it.”

He also reiterated that he had signed a non-disclosure agreement, but that didn't stop him from revealing that through a head nod that he saw Lightsabers, Blasters and (Spoilers) Stormtroopers on set. While the first two were obvious, the latter could confirm some previous rumors we've heard.

It is certainly exciting to hear someone like Kevin Smith, who is obviously a huge fan, talk very highly of this film. In case it wasn't obvious already, Star Wars is in superb hands.

Star Wars Episode VII is slated to hit theaters December 18th, 2015.

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: WookieBalls Customs

Ray McDonald aka WookieBalls Customs started to post his Star Wars custom action figures on the web about a year after I started to customize.  When he started to post, I knew right away that he was going to be a customizer to be reckoned with.  He was definitely my favorite newcomer that year.  His art was always very welcoming to the eyes.  Years later and he is still at it and even more impressive than ever.  Customizing in a variety of scales and when not making something new, restoring some of his old Vintage toys, WookieBalls is always keeping busy.

When I saw he started a special Star Wars custom action figure sale a few hours ago on his Facebook page, I knew he was the artist I had to feature this week.  If you hurry over to his page, you may be a one of the lucky individuals able to procure one of his beautiful pieces of art.  Be sure to take a look at his offerings on the Facebook link below.  A lot of these customs are carded and look absolutely beautiful.  Hopefully, you get there before his figures are all sold out.

Along with the usual BBQ and fireworks, we always like to find a Star Wars way to celebrate this special day. So how about we all figure out which planet we would live on if we were in the Galaxy far, far away?

A creative Tumblr user by the name of "Wedge Antilles" took the time to create a map of the U.S(above) which matches each state in the United States with a Star Wars planet with similar terrain, landmarks, etc. Along with the map they created a glossary with the names of planets alongside their corresponding state:

Harrison Ford's personal trainer Jake Steinfeld recently chatted with entertainment news site TMZ about the actor's recovery. Steinfeld had some encouraging words.

"He's getting in shape now. He's feeling great and he's rehabbing it.

He and I have been friends for a long time, over 30 years, and he is in great shape. He is going to get back even better than he was, and I've been monitoring it with him. He's feeling great and is in great spirits."

It sounds like Mr. Ford is making progress in his recovery. We will continue to update you on further developments.
