Ahsoka & Vader 'Star Wars Rebels' Figures Coming This Fall

By: Benjamin Hart

Season one of Star Wars Rebels drew to close earlier this week with the finale episode "Fire Across The Galaxy". The episode itself ended with two jaw dropping appears by classic Star Wars characters. Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader both made big entrances in the episode, thus setting them up for what we can assume will be big roles in the second season. The toy wizards at Hasbro are looking to keep up the ongoing animated series and, and shortly after the episode aired they unveiled the action figures for Ahsoka and Vader in their new animated forms. USA Today provided us with our first look at the figures, which you can see above. Our friends at Making Star Wars also received the following message from Hasbro confirming their size and when they will be released:

"Hi, Star Wars fans. In celebration of the Star Wars Rebels Season One finale,  Hasbro is thrilled to introduce the return of two incredible fan favorites:  Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.  Seen for the first time in their unique Rebels styling, these 3.75” figures are a significant addition to Hasbro’s already extensive line of Star Wars Rebels action figures and role play toys. The figures will be available Fall 2015."

I have to say, these both look like excellent figures, and I can't wait to buy them. Curiously Ahsoka's Lightsabers here look green, contrary to the images we've seen from the series, and confirmation from Dave Filoni, that they are indeed white in color. It could mean that the figure is based on earlier concepts for Ahsoka in Rebels, and could change prior to it's release.

Let's hope Hasbro can end their distribution troubles so all of us can have a chance to get our hands on these!

Harrison Ford In Plane Crash (Updated)

By: Jake Damon

A small, two-passenger airplane flown by longtime pilot Harrison Ford went down at the Penmar golf course in Venice, CA earlier (assumed to have happened today). Harrison reportedly survived, but sustained several cuts to the head, and was bleeding. Luckily, there were two doctors on the course at the time who immediately rushed to the scene where they treated him, and later taken to local hospital by ambulance. This isn't his first crash, so this isn't anything he's not used to. I'm assuming he knew the proper protocol for landing a crashing plane without too much going wrong. This is all the information we have at this time, but we will give updates as the story develops.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to him in hopes for a speedy recovery.

Source: TMZ

Update: A press conference by the Los Angeles Fire department describe Harrison's injuries as "very moderate", NBC News reports. It sounds like he's going to pull through! May the Force be with him as he recovers!

Rumor: Second 'The Force Awakens' Trailer Description (Updated!)

$

By: Dominic Jones

UPDATE: Multiple sources are reporting the trailer description is FAKE!  These included Jason Ward of MakingStarWars.net and Jay Carlson of Indie Revolver (both of whom I trust when it comes to rumor matters)
ORIGINAL STORY:
With Star Wars Celebration Anaheim just 40 Days away and JJ Abrams and Kathleen being there to kick off the event, all signs are pointing to a new trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens being released during that event.  And now, the good folks over at Star Wars 7 News have gotten their hands on what they believe is a description of the new trailer.  This apparently comes from a Disney employee who saw the trailer.  Here's what they saw,

The footage was a very rough cut of the new Star Wars trailer that JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy will show off next month at Celebration. It’ll then probably be with Avengers. The trailer was just completed in the last couple weeks and it runs about a minute and a half. The music I’m told was all temporary using existing score from the previous Star Wars movies, but I understand that Williams composed a new piece last November that’ll be used in the final trailer.

The first portion of it is rather slow:

Like the first teaser it opens with a shot of the desert planet. Although it’s not dunes. It’s a destroyed AT-AT on its side.

Voice over (sounds like Lupita Nyong’o): “I shall show you the story…”

Forest location with a very large structure (like a castle or something) with an opening in the base of a large tree. I believe this is the Puzzlewood location.

VO continues “of who you seek…”

A large city in a tropical location. Looks like it’s on the water.

VO continues “the one who taught me…”

Cloaked figure (maybe Luke?) standing at the top of stone steps on a high green hill with mountain stones behind him. This is definitely Skellig Michael.

VO continues “I know why the weapon came to you.”

John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and a small blue alien with a CG face in a dark (underground?) cave. Finn takes a lightsaber, and turns it on revealing a green blade. Rey is in the background and looks disturbed.

Things pick up from here. Lots of quick shots.

Han Solo wearing a brown duster and looking past the camera.

A black TIE Fighter attacking the forest location we saw earlier.

Kylo Ren in a POV shot approaching someone on the ground. His mask is dark with silver accents. The cross-guard saber is ignited.

People running in the city seen earlier in the trailer.

R2-D2 making a forlorn beep.

C-3PO and Princess Leia in what looks like a base command center.

New Voice Over (sounds like Andy Serkis from the first trailer) “Don’t get too sentimental”.

As that VO is playing we see Han looking at Leia and then walking away from her towards the Falcon with Chewie.

The snowy forest from the first trailer. Slow shot of Finn holding the saber, looks like he’s protecting Rey from someone as we hear Han say “You can do this kid, I believe in you.”

Final shot of the trailer is a close-up of a hooded head looking up to reveal Luke.

Wow!  That sounds fantastic!  If this does turn out to be the trailer we see at Celebration, I will be very happy.  Much like the first trailer did, this seems to deal with many of the things that have been rumored over the past few months.  Also, sounds like there will be a nice mix of old characters and new ones in this and I very look forward to getting our first glimpse at the legacy characters and another look at the new kids.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

Rumor: Details About Rey and the IMAX Sequence in 'The Force Awakens'

By: Dominic Jones

Our friends over at MakingStarWars.net have posted another interesting rumor today pertaining to the character Rey and the sequence that was shot in IMAX for the film.  These rumors aren't as spoiler-y as previous ones (yeah those two) as they take place towards the beginning of the film.  As usual there is a chance this may turn out not to be true but it you are trying to avoid all The Force Awakens spoilers then stop reading now.  This is your official SPOILER ALERT!

When we first meet Rey she appears to be living a mundane life. She is a scavenger living on a backwater planet. She does what she has to do to survive. Of course, Star Wars: The Force Awakens exists to change all that. Someone has to save the galaxy.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey is introduced while scavenging the innards of a huge Star Destroyer that has crashed on the planet’s surface, probably years before Rey steps into it. In the concept art for this sequence, we see Rey standing at a ledge leading to certain doom. She’s hundreds of feet up in the belly of this beast. You can see TIE Fighters on the ground that fell through a hole somewhere and plummeted to the bottom of the chasm during the crash. In the concept art, I would say she seems very agile and it also seems as if she takes risks. To be able to do Rey’s job, you may even need serious skills in parkour, maybe. In the concepts, the Star Destroyer looks like its been crashed there for some time. It has paneling falling apart and the paint is almost rustic inside. The concept art is also “shot” at angles meant to induce a sense of vertigo which makes Rey seem pretty badass and brave.

Rey grabs her salvage and heads back to the salvation station area. In a rather evocative shot, she rides her speeder into the setting sun. She eats dinner alone. We get the sense that Rey lives a very lonely life. Don’t worry, she doesn’t eat dinner for long before BB-8 needs rescuing and she answers his call for help. It makes sense she tries to sell him shortly after considering her line of work, but when the deal falls through after some haggling she reluctantly decides to keep him (and perhaps solve her loneliness problem).

When she meets Finn at the salvage station, she distrusts him. But he’s able to talk her into starting to trust him (that seems to be his skill). When the Stormtroopers attack them, they are thrown together to survive the ordeal.

I really like the sound of Rey’s introduction to the film. There’s an implied sadness to it but its not pathetic. She’s independent but lonely. Her situation is relatable and admirable while inducing a certain sense of empathy for her humanity.

Later on in the film after Rey and Finn take their flight in the Falcon is where we get the IMAX sequences. The Falcon is chased by TIE Fighters and we apparently move by some familiar landmarks in the film’s one-sun desert setting. This is the big chase and action sequence which dominates the film’s first act. TIEs are in hot pursuit of the Falcon as it rockets away from the salvage station. Rey and BB-8 pilot the ship. Finn gets on the Falcon’s turret. There’s a lot of banter between the two and to an extent they don’t seem to really know what they’re doing. But most of all, Finn is rather inept. As TIEs shoot at the Falcon, Rey has to ask Finn if he plans on “answering back.” Its a situation he can’t talk himself out of and he has figure out how to use the turret and actually hit one. To save their skins, Rey pilots them into the insides of the giant crashed Star Destroyer she was scavenging from during her introduction sequence. The Falcon and the TIEs “slalom” around debris and the insides of the downed ship, eventually losing their persuers.

Presumably they give us a moment to catch our breath, the IMAX sequence ends and then the Falcon end up being swallowed by another huge ship in space. Monomyth fans are going to have a fun time with those “belly of the whale” analogies. It appears the IMAX sequence is going to seriously rock as its the flight of the Falcon being chased by TIE Fighters into Star Destroyer wreckage. That might explain why the Abu Dhabi helicopter pilots had so much work on this production?

The Rey stuff all sounds interesting.  We get the sense that she is very self reliant, though it makes you wonder why she is living a life like this.  Also, you'll notice that Jason emphasizes that she rides off into a single sunset and not a double sunset like they have Tatooine.  This suggests that perhaps we are visiting another desert planet that isn't Tatooine in the film.  Though, to be honest, (and no offense intended to Jason or anyone else who has reported this) I have a really hard time buying that.  I guess we'll find out in December.

Also, the IMAX seen sounds amazing and you can really see why JJ chose to shoot the scene this way.  We've already gotten our first glimpse at this scene in the first trailer, as the shot of the Falcon is from the sequence and a still of it was officially released in the IMAX aspect ratio.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

Rumor: Sarah Michelle Gellar's Star Wars Rebels Role Revealed?

By: Dominic Jones

We were all very excited to learn that Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar would be joining the cast of Star Wars Rebels in Season 2.  Gellar, whose husband Freddie Prince Jr. plays Kanan on the series, announced that she would be appearing on the series earlier this week afterthe stunning Season One finale "Fire Across the Galaxy" had aired.  The question now is, who will she be lending her voice to?  We may have out answer.  Star Wars Time is reporting that an inside source let them know who she will be playing.   As usual, there is a chance this may be false, but if you don't want to know anything about Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels then stop reading now!  This is your official SPOILER ALERT!

----------
According to Star Wars Time
Sarah Michelle Gellar will be voicing a new character based on Mara Jade named Aileen Zahn in honor of Timothy Zahn, Mara’s creator. She will be an Inquisitor but pretending to be a Rebel.

That would definitely be an interesting twist, plus I like the idea of seeing more Inquisitors next season since the one who terrorized our heroes throughout Season One fell to his death on Monday night.  The Mara Jade connection does raise some red flags for me.  If they were basing a character on a different character from the old EU/Legends, I don't know if they would really be advertising that.  On that same token, I have no issue with a character being named in honor of Tim Zahn due to his role is kick starting the EU back in 1991.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

Opinion: Where have you been, Ashoka Tano?

$

By: Tom Bradshaw

We are now over three days in, having known officially the identity of the secretive mastermind in season one of Star Wars: Rebels-our beloved former Padawan from The Clone Wars-Ashoka Tano! Since the very first mention of Fulcrum, we, the fan community, have been abuzz, forming speculations, creating our own rumors, and overall stirring up a huge ruckus-all in the hopes that the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker would make some kind of appearance, provide some sort of fanfare-to all of us who were not satisfied with her departure at the conclusion of season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (As if anyone was satisfied! We love our Snips!) After months of endless rumors, what was asked for-has finally been received! Throughout this article, we will examine some food for thought-of the current standing of our beloved Togruta Apprentice from The Clone Wars!

1. Where did she go after season 5?
At the conclusion of season 5 of TCW, Ashoka placed her lightsabers on the mantle, and walked away from the Jedi Order-after becoming dissatisfied with the Order, feeling betrayed and disgusted by the lack of trust they had placed in her. Where did she first go when she departed the Jedi? Where was she when Order 66 went down? We want to know where she’s been, in this big galaxy of dire need!

2. What is her status as a practitioner of the Force?
By leaving the Jedi, Ashoka left behind the most mainstream (and possibly efficient) opportunity at her disposal to continue to be educated and formally trained in the ways of the force. Unlike Kanan, she was not displaced by the execution of Order 66, but willfully walked away from the current path and administration of the Jedi Order, prior to the galaxy-transforming event. It can be clearly seen when she is climbing down the ladder, making her appearance in Rebels (pictured below), that she continues to carry two lightsabers. What has she been doing in relation to being a force practitioner? Does she identify as an rogue Jedi? Does she rarely use these sabers (as Kanan did, prior to the series premiere)? Or perhaps little snips, in her growing-has found other means to continue to study the ways of the force and has continually matured in her training, now being the equivalent of even a Jedi Master?

3. What is the scope of her involvement with The Rebellion?
At the beginning of the scene where Snips makes her comeback, we learn from a hologram transmission of Senator Bail Organa that there is a Rebellion, and that the crew of The Ghost are only one cell of said Rebellion-to the surprise of the crew itself, barring Hera, who was in conversation with Ashoka via Fulcrum. Is she merely one body who has been supervising The Ghost from afar? Does she hold a much more administrative role? And how big is The Rebellion in this current form? And how did she get involved with The Rebellion?

4. Does she know that Anakin is Darth Vader?
This may seem silly at first thought, but the fact that Anakin Skywalker is the man behind the suit and mask of Darth Vader-is not common knowledge throughout the galaxy. Does Ashoka realize that her former master is this monster that destroyed all those she knew and loved in her former life as a Jedi Padawan? Have they met-or even sensed each other, since her departure from the order? Will there be a major confrontation between the two in this series?

5.  And where will she go…?
As with the entire crew of The Ghost, it is clear that these are not characters that are featured in the Original Trilogy: Where will she go, Episode V being only a short five years away? Surely, they could just be off running a mission somewhere not covered by the trilogy, but that is of course-wishful thinking.

Whatever the future holds…wherever you have been…and wherever you will go-Welcome back, Ashoka Tano!

'Kanan: The Last Padawan #1' Comic Preview

By: Benjamin Hart

Season one of Star Wars Rebels just ended leaving our jaws on the floor after the reveals of some returning characters, as well as some interesting developments with our existing cast. One of those characters is Kanan Jarrus, who's history as a Jedi was hinted at in several episodes in the series. His time as Padawan to Depa Billaba during the Clone Wars, and the circumstances which allowed him to survive Order 66, have remained unexplored - until now. "Kanan: The Last Padawan", one of the new ongoing comic series from Marvel, will tell the story of how Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume became future Rebel leader Kanan Jarrus. StarWars.com has revealed a new look at the front cover and two unfinished pages from the first issue, which you can see above and below.

The series is written by former Star Wars Rebels executive producer Greg Weisman with penciling by Pepe Larraz and color by David Curiel. Kanan: The Last Padawan #1 is slated for release on April 1st!

LGBT Character Introduced into Star Wars Canon in 'Lords of the Sith'

By: Dominic Jones

The push for more diversity in Star Wars is paying off!  Bryan Young over at Big Shiny Robot broke the story earlier today that an LGBT character would be introduced in Paul S. Kemp's upcoming novel Star Wars: Lords of the Sith.  The character, named Moff Mors is described by Young as being, "an Imperial who has made some very serious mistakes but is an incredibly capable leader and spends much of the book working hard to prevent absolute failure. She also happens to be a lesbian."

Del Rey Star Wars editor Shelly Shapiro told Young,
"This is certainly the first character in canon," Shapiro says. "But there was a gay Mandalorian couple, so it's not brand new. It's not something I really think about, it just makes sense. There's a lot of diversity–there should be diversity in "Star Wars." You have all these different species and it would be silly to not also recognize that there's a lot of diversity in humans. If there's any message at all, it's simply that "Star Wars" is as diverse (or more so because they have alien species) as humanity is in real life and we don't want to pretend it's not. It just felt perfectly natural."

As Shapiro mentions, this is not the first time we have seen homosexual people in Star Wars.  Karen Travis subtly included two married Mandalorian men in her Legacy of the Force novels, The Old Republic MMORPG allowed for characters to enter into same sex relationships, and the 2003 video game Knights of the Old Republic included a lesbian character (though a glitch in the first release allowed male characters to enter a relationship with her, this was corrected in subsequent releases of the game).  However, those are now considered Legends and Moff Mors will be the first gay character included in the new/official story group canon.

I have to say, I was very pleased to hear this news.  There seems to be a movement at Lucasfilm (and from Star Wars fans) to make the stories more diverse (the marketing and merchandise still needs lots of work, though), and we have seen more ethnic and gender diversity than ever before (for starters, The Force Awakens leads are white woman and black man and the cast in general features far more diversity than either the Prequels or the Originals).  Expanding that diversity into LGBT characters seems like the logical next step to make Star Wars a more diverse and inclusive universe, as well as one that is reflective of our own.  Obviously more can always be donebutI want to give kudos to Paul S. Kemp and the Story Group for making this decision and hopefully we will continue to see more diversity in Star Wars characters going forward.

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: DioramaWorkshop.com

With Celebration right around the corner, I can't help but get excited about one of Celebration's best attractions...The Diorama Workshop. The formal announcements have been made and The Diorama Workshop will be returning for Celebration Anaheim. The event has been a staple attraction at past Celebrations. The event lasts the entire duration of Celebration.  It's a giant team build for everyone who wants to participate.  Past builds were really amazing. Last Celebration a Jabba's Sail Barge was constructed.  All was built in the traditional 3 3/4" scale.

The theme this time around is Bespin. The Diorama Workshop will be more ambitious then ever with THREE (3) full levels of Bespin hallways, reactor cores, and prison cells.  They will be addressing the set all the way to the peaks of the skyscrapers outside in the skyline. There will be something for beginners as well as advanced diorama masters.  The booth will be 60x60 feet of building space for the fans and 20 feet x 32 feet for tables used in the final display. For the first time EVER, The Diorama Workshop will be displayed INSIDE the actual HASBRO BOOTH !!! Giving the kids (and adults) creations even MORE exposure.

In ALL past Celebrations, fans have always been so generous and donated their unwanted or duplicate figures to us to use at the Diorama Workshops through the CIII - CIV - CV and CVI Figure Funds. Hasbro would then come on top and donate tons of toys from their warehouses to fill in the remaining gap so that ALL KIDS had at least ONE toy to go home with alongside their creation on the closing Sunday.

This year, they are again asking for your help !!. Especially with LESS THEN TWO (2) MONTHS till the show. Time is more precious then in years past. As you may also know, a diorama without any figures, as cool as the construction is, ONLY comes to LIFE with Hasbro TOYS. The loyal staff have gotten the ball rolling with 200+ figures, beasts and ships (purchased on ebay and from their own collections) but... that is just the beginning of what they need for final display. They have a page on their website with information on how to get involved.

Frank D'iorio the creator of DioramaWorkshop.com works in Movie Visual Effects as a freelance Digital Compositor. Frank has been building diorama playsets to display his Star Wars Collection and share his designs with the world since the creation of his website NiubNiubsUniverse.com in the summer of 2000. In 2011, Frank joined the 21st century with the creation of Frank D'iorio's Diorama Workshop where viewers can enjoy "FREE" decals, blueprints and step by step instructions that are great for individuals who want to build action figure dioramas in their own home for either display or as your kid's playsets.

After getting a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design at the Université du Québec a Montréal in 1990, Frank started his career working at a big local television studio doing animation and design for TV openings and their corporate videos. After several years in TV, his true passion for film led him to BUZZ IMAGE where he worked on his first film feature The Red Violin.  In 2007, Frank's life long dream of working for George Lucas came true when he went to San Francisco's ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) to work on the film adaptation of Transformers. Since then Frank has continued to work at Lucasfilm in the winters and spends his summer months at local Montreal studios.  Some of Frank's other film work includes: 300, Final Destination 3, Fantastic 4, and Terminator Salvation among others. You can see his work profile over at IMDB.com

Since 2002, Frank has been working along with Lucasfilm, designing and organizing all of the Diorama Workshops for all their Star Wars Celebration conventions. An opportunity that allows him to share his love for Star Wars and diorama building with kids of all ages.

Report: John Williams to Record the Score for 'The Force Awakens' This Summer

By: Dominic Jones

The John Williams fansite, John Williams Fan Network is reporting that John Williams will be recording the score for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens this summer.  This comes via concert producer Tommy Pearson who stated that Williams would be returning to the UK to score the film during the summer.  He later clarified that he was assuming the recording would take place in the UK because the production was based there.

The London Symphony Orchestra, who recorded the music for all six previous films, responded to the suggestion that they would be involved in the new film by stating that, "there has been no announcement!"
The film is slated to be released in December, so this feels a little early.  Previous Star Wars films held their scoring sessions 3-4 months before the release of the film.  That being said, it is really exciting to know that will be hearing new Star Wars music from John Williams very soon.

Lucasfilm Announces 'Journey to The Force Awakens' Books From Del Rey, Marvel, and More

Entertainment Weekly dropped a bomb this morning in the Star Wars publishing world, revealing that Lucasfilm and Disney have at least twenty new books coming that will fill the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.  The books, collectively known as "Journey to The Force Awakens," will include novels, comics, young readers books, and more.

The two biggest announcements come from Del Rey and Marvel.  These books are likely still being written and/or edited so little beyond the title is known.  Del Rey will be releasing a new novel set between VI and VII in their adult fiction line titled Star Wars: Aftermath.  Marvel will be releasing two comic series that preview the new film, one titled Journey to The Force Awakens, and the other being told from C-3PO's perspective.

The young readers novels we've been hearing about for sometime now have authors.  Via EW,
Cecil Castellucci (author of Tin Star) will write Moving Target, an adventure following Princess Leia; Jason Fry, who earlier wrote Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy, will be the author of The Weapon of a Jedi, about Luke Skywalker; Claudia Gray, author of the Evernight series of fantasy books, will write a book titled Lost Stars; and Greg Rucka, a comic book scribe and writer of the Atticus Kodiak novels, will pen Smuggler’s Run, a Han Solo tale.

Andrew Sugerman, executive vice president of Disney Publishing Worldwide, spoke with EW about the announcement, first talking about how this all came together, saying,  "The Force Awakens is an extraordinarily, heavily guarded storyline. To track it, a lot of top-secret meetings were happening up in San Francisco as we worked through this program."

He then discussed how the books all fit together,
"The partnership with the story group and the editorial team always had to be true to the sanctity of the film while making sure that we find these moments to introduce hints, clues, and puzzle pieces.  Without revealing what those pieces are, it will just allow readers to speculate about the new film: What could a location mean, or what could a character mean?”

No word yet on the release dates.  We've heard before that the young readers books would be released in September, so perhaps some of the other releases will also be out around that time.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if the "adult" stories are saved for a release closer to the release of the film.

'Star Wars: Aftermath' Synopsis Revealed

Earlier today we got word of the first The Force Awakens tie-in novel Star Wars: Aftermath as part of the "Journey to The Force Awakens"books that will be released later this year.  The description that was posted on Barnes & Noble and was noticed by the folks at Jedi-Bibliothek.  The description reads,

Journey to The Force Awakens.

The second Death Star is destroyed. The Emperor and his powerful enforcer, Darth Vader, are rumored to be dead. The Galactic Empire is in chaos.

Across the galaxy, some systems celebrate, while in others Imperial factions tighten their grip. Optimism and fear reign side by side.

And while the Rebel Alliance engages the fractured forces of the Empire, a lone Rebel scout uncovers a secret Imperial meeting...

I have to say, this sounds fantastic!  The concept of a secret Imperial meeting gives me chills because it sounds like it's setting up the Empire we will be seeing in The Force Awakens.  No word yet on who's writing this or when the release date is, but suffice to say the description has me excited and really looking forward to the book.

The official description for the series reads,

Kanan Jarrus--in STAR WARS REBELS, he’s a cocky, sarcastic renegade fighting against the Galactic Empire alongside the rag-tag crew of the Ghost...but years before, at the height of the Clone Wars, he was known as Caleb Dume, Jedi Padawan under the instruction of Jedi Master Depa Billaba. Neither master nor apprentice ever suspected that the Clone Troopers they commanded would turn on them upon the issuing of Order 66—the order to execute all Jedi. How did Caleb Dume survive? How did he learn to survive on his own? And how did he become the man we know as Kanan Jarrus? Writer Greg Weisman (writer/executive producer on STAR WARS REBELS, SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN) and artist Pepe Larraz (DEADPOOL VS. X-FORCE, THOR, INHUMAN) bring us a tale bridging the years between the Clone Wars and Rebels!

I must say, I am really looking forward to this series.  Overall the Marvel Star Wars comics have been good so far.  Plus Kanan has been a great character on Rebels (and in the novel A New Dawn) and I look forward to seeing more of his backstory.

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: My Kind of Scum

Loje Nella

My Kind of Scum (also known as Craig in other 'real world' circles) was born in Ohio and currently lives in Wyoming. He has been a fan of Star Wars since seeing A New Hope in theatres (meaning he's old). Over the years, his fandom has only grown through the Original Trilogy, the Prequels, releases by West End Games,  and the enormous catalogue of the Expanded Universe/ Legends. The first customizing he ever did was when the POTF2 line was in its infancy.  He would heat figure's joints to bend them into poses, and changed out figure heads, etc.

Later, after seeing what other customizers were accomplishing he was fully drawn into the customizing world and has been seriously customizing ever since. Currently, he's trying to teach himself how to sculpt and to add articulation to figures so that he can take his customizing to the next level. He prefers to create his own characters and has been doing prep work for years on a photonovel series that he hopes to one day get off of the ground.  He cites Star Wars customizer/photonovelist, Chewie as one of his greatest inspirations.
